Day 12 George Mason

George Mason was a lawyer, judge, planter, member of the Virginia State House, Virginia delegate to the Constitutional Convention, author of the Virginia Constitution, and “Father of the Bill of Rights”. Mason refused to sign the constitution because, in his opinion, it did not sufficiently limit the government’s power from infringing on the rights of citizens, it did not have a bill of rights, nor did it abolish slavery.
