Day 30 The Signers’ Faiths

Of the 55 delegates sent to the Constitutional Convention, 28 were Episcopalians, 8 were Presbyterians, 7 were Congregationalists, 2 were Lutherans, 2 were Dutch Reformed, 2 were Roman Catholics, 1 was unknown, and three were said to be deists. At a minimum, 93% of the men who attended the convention were members of Christian churches. Forty men signed it. It took a long time to write and ratify the United States Constitution. It was officially adopted on September 17, 1787.
